Adventure camp with environmental focus

The Pierce County Eco-Adventure Camp is five action packed days of fun for kids ages 10 -14. Parks and Recreation staff teamed up with environmental educators to create a special outdoor day camp Aug. 9 -13 at Meridian Habitat Park and Community Center on Puyallup’s South Hill.

Events throughout the week include hiking, cooperative games, nature projects, scientific experiments, journaling, storytelling, art projects, kayaking and special tours around the sound.

“Every day is different,” said Cara Cross, Pierce County Parks and Recreation supervisor. “Last year, one day the kids were out picking organic berries and baking a cobbler; the next day they were kayaking in Puget Sound.”

Spots are still available for this experience of a lifetime. The fee for the week is $182. To register or to obtain more information, please contact Parks and Recreation at 253-798-4177 or www.piercecountywa.org/parks.
