Joel Lang appointed principal at Saltar’s Pont Elementary
Steilacoom Historical School District #1 announces the selection of Joel Lang as the new principal of Saltar’s Point Elementary School located in Steilacoom.
“I view Saltar’s Point Elementary as a place of hope and learning for everyone – students, staff and families.. My commitment is to help the Saltar’s Point community make a great school even better,” said Lang.
As undergraduate college student, Lang attended Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Business Economics and German. After leaving college, he began his career in education working as a para-educator at Lakes High School assisting in its Life Skills program.
While at Lakes, Joel entered Pacific Lutheran University and earned a Masters degree in Education and his initial teaching certificate.
Since 1996, he has served as an educator in the North Thurston School District at the middle school and elementary school levels. While in North Thurston, he earned a reputation as a highly-skilled math teacher.
After teaching for a number of years, Mr. Lang decided to become an administrator. He attended Seattle Pacific University and received his Certificate in School Administration in 2009.
Most recently, Lang has worked as Student Support Specialist at South Bay School. His duties included counseling and managing discipline for intermediate-level students, creating and managing the school’s Response to Intervention (RtI) program and co-leading multiple academic and management initiatives with the building’s principal.
Mr. Lang comes to Steilacoom Historical School District #1 with a solid record of making a positive impact in schools as he supports his students and staff.
Joel Lang begins his new assignment on July 1.
